Can I stop them from building this house on a high risk floodplain?
I live in Walton County Georgia and they want to build a house on a lot that was supposed to be unbuildable, according to my real estate agent (we just moved into our house). I called the county and they said that plot is in a high risk flood zone (100 year flood plain) and that to build there they would have to get an elevation permit. They weren?t able to do that so they are taking trees out to ?dry it up?. Is this legal? I want to stop them, since half the reason why we bought our house is because of how private it is, and if a house is built there that would kinda kill that. Also, I know there is a stream found below a sloping hill behind our house that probably hits that plot, making it wet, which is why he was taking out trees to try and dry it up. Oh, and I spoke to the man who plans to build there and he said that ?it took a lot to convince them to rezone it.?
