Europe absolutely crushed the United States in the 2013 Solheim Cup, and there were plenty of poor performances to go around for the women competing on the losing squad.?
Many thought the United States would be able to take advantage of a home course at Colorado Country Club, but it was not to be.
Winning in hostile territory for the first time since the event began back in 1990, Europe's 18-10 spanking was the largest margin of victory in the history of the Solheim Cup, as noted by the team's official Twitter account:
Heading into Sunday's singles matches with a five-point lead of 10-5, Europe never let up to finish with the historic margin.?
The following women were being counted on to lead the United States to victory when the tournament began, but once the action commenced they were unable to deliver the goods.
?
Stacy Lewis and Paula Creamer
Lewis entered the Solheim Cup as one of the hottest golfers in the world. With three wins?including her recent victory at the British Open?and 12 top-10 finishes, most analysts dismissed her 1-3 record at the 2011 Solheim Cup.
She was supposed to give the United States a huge boost, but it never materialized.?Her only win this past weekend came when she was paired with Solheim Cup veteran?and one of the team's most successful players?Paula Creamer.?
Incidently, this was the only match Creamer managed to win, as well, and the two of them squeaked by the duo of Azahara Munoz and Karine Icher?a match they should have easily won.?
The fact that neither player was able to generate points on Day 1 shocked many, including Beth Ann Baldry of Golfweek magazine:
Both key players failed to generate any momentum throughout the event and, as a result, the United States lost badly.
?
Morgan Pressel
A veteran of two previous Solheim Cups, Pressel had shown herself to be a strong player under the stressful conditions of this match play event with a career record of 7-2-2.?
She locked up her third appearance this season with an impressive fourth-place finish at the British Open, as noted by the team's official website. After posting an undefeated mark of 4-0 in 2011, Pressel was expected to be a strong contributor for this year's team.
Pressel got off to a terrific start on Day 1, winning her foursome match 3 and 2 alongside teammate Jessica Korda against the European duo of Catriona Matthew and Jodi Ewart.

Cristie Kerr
Which player was the most disappointing at the 2013 Solheim Cup?
Unfortunately, it was to be her lone moment of triumph, as Pressel lost in each of her final three matches. Adding insult to injury, the veteran was blown away 4 and 2 in her individual match on Sunday against Carlota Ciganda.
?
Cristie Kerr
Playing in her seventh career Solheim Cup, Kerr was supposed to be a stalwart for the United States this year.?Europe featured six rookies, and being that the event was on U.S. soil, it was widely thought that she and the other veterans on her team would easily overwhelm the young Europeans.
However, Kerr, like the aforementioned women, failed to show up big when her team needed her most.?
Posting a record of 1-2-1 this past weekend, Kerr struggled against lesser opponents and never got comfortable. She, along with Creamer, Pressel and Lewis matched the points total of Caroline Hedwall, as noted by Jay Coffin of the Golf Channel:
Perhaps even more of a reflection on just how poorly these veterans played is this stat, reported by Tommy Hicks of AL.com: "Europe's six rookies posted a combined 12-5-0 record."
The United States will necessarily go back to the drawing board after getting embarrassed this summer in Colorado.?
