Automotive parts are the different components (or spare parts) of an automobile. Every automobile owner will have to shop for automotive parts sooner or later. Contrary to popular belief, automotive parts are not manufactured only by the original manufacturing company (of your automobile) but also by various independent (engineering) companies that specialize in manufacturing and installing automotive parts of a diverse range of automobiles of different makes and models. Automotive parts (manufactured by the original manufacturing company of your automobile) are expensive in most cases. When you factor in the repair or installation charges you will have to pay at the workshop and cost of alternative transport, you would realize that it will make more financial sense to buy your automobile and purchase a new one.

Most car enthusiasts can and do have a certain degree of technical know-how and generic tools that are useful for basic repair work.

If you have undertaken thorough research and explored all the options before purchasing the automotive parts, you would probably have purchased them at a reasonable price. A large number of car enthusiasts save hundreds of dollars just because they have technical know-how and generic tools that allow them to do basic repair work and installation of their vehicles at home. Availability of automotive parts was a huge constraint some time back. Automobile owners could buy second hand parts from their repair workshop or order them from the original manufacturing company of their automobile.

Experts recommend investing in original equipment manufacturer automotive parts despite the fact that they are more expensive because they are superior in quality, more reliable and are made for the specific make and model of your automobile.

On the other hand, aftermarket parts are manufactured for your car by companies other than the original manufacturer and are designed (generically) for several (makes and models of) cars. The performance of aftermarket parts is unreliable at best. Moreover, because they are manufactured by relatively smaller (and unknown companies) there are no guarantees for aftermarket parts available in the market. Thus, do not be lured by the substantially lower price of aftermarket parts because chances are that they would make you spend more in the long run than original equipment manufacturer parts! It should also be kept in mind that original equipment manufacturer parts are not necessarily manufactured by your automobile?s manufacturing company but one or more other companies that have been authorized to manufacture these parts by your automobile?s manufacturing company.

South Korea sets sights on becoming stem cell powerhouse, again (Reuters)

SEOUL (Reuters) ? South Korea's president vowed on Monday a series of regulatory reforms to help regain its place as a stem cell research powerhouse, trying to reclaim momentum five years after a cloning scandal.

President Lee Myung-bak said that by breathing new life into the industry, it could become "core new growth engine" for Asia's fourth biggest economy along the same lines as its lucrative IT sector.

"Just a decade ago, Korea took the lead in stem cell research in the world along with the United States," Lee said in a bi-weekly radio address.

"Unfortunately, there was a disappointing incident, which caused inevitable damage to the entire stem-cell research community in Korea," Lee said, referring to the scandal involving the pre-eminent scientist, Hwang Woo-suk.

South Korea had once been considered a global leader in human embryonic stem cell research until review boards said in 2005 that the team led by Hwang had manipulated key data in its studies on cloning stem cells, sparking a fraud case that shook the global scientific community.

As a result of the scandal, South Korea all but put stem cell research into the deep freeze.

Lee said the lapse had allowed other countries such as the United States, Japan, Britain and China to get the jump on South Korea, depriving the country of valuable revenue.

"While we were faltering in our quest for stem cell research, other nations streamlined their regulations and aggressively expanded their investments in research," he said.

"CORE GROWTH ENGINE"

Lee said the government would invest nearly 100 billion won ($90 million) in stem cell research next year and that it would reform related regulations to make clinical and licensing procedures easier.

He said the reforms would help the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) and other agencies "to ensure that they proactively adapt to the changes in the international environment".

"The government has decided to foster the stem cell industry as a core new growth engine following the footsteps of the IT industry," he said.

Stem cells are the body's master cells and the source of all cells and tissues. Because of their ability to generate different types of cells and multiply and self-renew, scientists hope to harness them to treat a variety of diseases and disorders, including cancer and diabetes, and injuries.

Stem cell research is "very rewarding and significant in that it can give hope to those who suffer from rare and intractable diseases," Lee said.

"In addition, from a business perspective, it can be said to be a high-value-added industry.

"This field is new and offers infinite room for advancement, and how well we manage at this initial stage will make an enormous difference down the road. The country should now set its eyes on emerging as a stem cell powerhouse."

The government will create a national stem cell bank for use to produce, preserve and supply stem cells to various researchers in the country on a stable basis, Lee added.

In July, the KFDA approved stem cell medication in the form of a treatment for heart attack victims for the world's first clinical use.

That Hearticellgram-AMI treatment, developed by FCB-Pharmicell, signaled the country's first salvo to put research in the field back on the frontline.

What's the shape of space to come?

The lines of debate over the future of space exploration are becoming clearer ? and it doesn't necessarily add up to a pretty picture.?NASA's $35 billion Space Launch System is just a piece of the puzzle: This week's developments also touch upon SpaceX, the James Webb Space Telescope and next-gen technologies. Here are a few not-so-easy pieces to muse over during the weekend:

James Webb Space Telescope: A House panel stirred up a ruckus earlier this summer when it called for canceling the JWST, the grand observatory widely regarded as Hubble's heir. The problem is that the project is way behind schedule and over budget. Now the Senate Appropriations Committee has released its version of the fiscal 2012 bill that covers NASA's budget, and it provides just enough money to keep the JWST on track, based on NASA's current projections. Some observers are exulting that the next-gen telescope?has been?"saved," but there's a long way to go yet, including House-Senate budget negotiations.

Space Launch System: The same Senate bill follows through on the SLS plan that senators worked out with NASA and the White House. It would provide $3 billion during the next fiscal year ($1.8 billion for the rocket, $1.2 billion for the multipurpose crew vehicle), just as NASA projected. A $17 billion cost cap is also specified for work through fiscal 2017. That compares with NASA's estimate of $18 billion earlier in the week. New-space opposition to the SLS plan is continuing, with the Space Access Society and the Space Frontier Foundation weighing in against what they see as a money-gobbling white elephant. But one of the Senate bill's provisions would hold back $200 million of the $500 million allotted for NASA's commercial crew program unless NASA makes good on its promise to get to work on the SLS. SpaceX schedule: California-based?SpaceX, which is arguably the country's most successful new-space venture, voiced support for the $500 million commercial crew plan laid out by the Senate bill. The company had been due to?launch an uncrewed Dragon cargo capsule to the International Space Station on Nov. 30, as the final test opening the way for U.S. cargo resupply flights in the post-shuttle era. But this week, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that?mission might have to be postponed until January or February, due to the launch delays caused by last month's problem with a Soyuz rocket. What's more, RIA Novosti quoted a Russian space official as saying that SpaceX does not have permission to dock with the space station. "So far, we have no proof that this spacecraft duly complies with the accepted norms of spaceflight safety," said Roscosmos' Alexei Krasnov. That?led NASA to issue a Twitter retort: "A decision has yet to be made regarding the upcoming @SpaceXer test flight to ISS."??

Wild-card technologies: There's good news and?bad news for space technology fans. First, the good news: NASA announced awards totaling up to $3 million to five companies working on solar electric propulsion, the kind of technology that many experts think will be needed for a mission to Mars. Today, NASA announced additional awards amounting to more than $3.7 million for two "game-changing" space technologies: beamed power (for ground-to-air and ground-to-ground applications) and next-generation lithium-ion batteries (for future space missions). Now for the bad news: The?Senate bill for fiscal 2012?trims almost?$400 million from President Barack Obama's $1.02 billion request for?space technology initiatives. (The good news is that it's more than what the House bill would provide.)

As business owners, it is difficult to make the decision to hire help. But every business, in order to reach that next level is going to have to build a support system. Hiring your virtual team takes a great deal of care in order to succeed, but putting together a winning team will make all the difference in the world. Here are a few learning opportunities that I have seen repeated over and over with Entrepreneurs who are just starting out with Virtual Assistant?s.

1.? No Job Description

Similar to when you worked in your corporate job and you were bringing on a new employee, you would put together a job description so you knew exactly what they would be doing when they came onboard, this is similar to when you begin working with a Virtual Assistant.? Take the time to write down what tasks your new addition will be taking on and what your expectations are for this new team member and share this with them when they start working with you so they know what is expected of them.

2.? Delegating

There is no point in finding great people and working hard to build a team for your business if you?re not going to delegate tasks to them.? If you have taken the time to build a supportive, successful team then let them do what you hired them to do.? Your business will never become as successful as it CAN if you try to do everything yourself.? By doing this, you are hurting yourself because there will come a time where you will have to turn down tremendous opportunities because you don?t have the time AND you will start to lose your team because they will find other clients who do appreciate what they can offer. You?re not doing yourself any favors by doing everything yourself ? in fact you?re doing quite the opposite!

3.? Communication

I very much so believe that it is important to find talented team members and let them do what they do best.? However I also think it is incredibly important to stay in close communication with your team members so that you know what is going on at all times.? Are deadlines being met?? Are customer service standards being held upright?? Are they meeting your expectations?

4.? Hiring Based on Skill Set Only

This is one of the biggest mistakes that business owners make, if you look for a VA based on skill sets only, you will fail every time!? Other factors must be taken into account also ? communication, availability, rates, personality, work ethic etc

5.? Quick To Hire, Slow To Fire

This is something that I saw in my former HR corporate life way too much.? Managers keeping on employees who should never have been hired in the first place.? This is why I recommend that you take your time when you are looking for a new member of your team.? Business owners tend to take? awhile to make this decision and then rush out and find someone now!? Hiring the wrong person is costly, time consuming and incredibly frustrating.? Take the time to hire the right person and if you don?t have the time, hire me:).? But seriously, if you do get the wrong person, and you have communicated their wrong doings with them and nothing has improved, move on!

6.? Not Having Systems In Place

This is one of the biggest mistakes that business owners make when they are growing their team, not having systems in place will cost you time and money.? You should have templates for FAQ?s, how you answer emails, anything repetitive should have a ?how to? template or checklist attached to it.

Paying attention to these few items can make all the difference between success and failure when hiring and working with a new VA. So take your time, do it right, and reap the benefits!

Hunger Challenge: Day 3 ? 5 ? Daily Dose of Distraction

I found it a lot harder to focus yesterday. I think it was in part to my strong sugar cravings, but I I tried to regroup by summing up the last couple days. I had to finish it today.

Day 3 Recap:

This post is late for a couple reasons. ?The main one was I got home at t 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night from an extra long day at work and the last thing I wanted to do was look at a computer screen. I instead had to make lunch for the next three days, also not incredibly enjoyable.? But alas, If I didn?t suck it up, I wouldn?t eat. ?So there I was, chopping onions and boiling water. ?Another pasta dish, this time with?sauteed?spinach?(yeah green food!) and onion and I added a bit of olive oil this time to the pasta (yes, I purchased olive oil with my allotted budget.) When adding the pasta to my boiling water I got to wondering how many salads I could have made out of purchasing a cucumber, bag of carrots and lettuce. ?Not sure what I would have switched out but going day four without fresh?vegetables makes me think I could have found a way.

I feel like I stepped up my self reflection on Day 3. ?First pondering happened in the morning while reading over some of the tweets and blog posts by other hunger challenge participants. I was hit smack dab in the face by a glaring error I had made: I didn?t use coupons. Not only did I not use coupons, I didn?t event think about them. Why not? Am I really in an economic class that I don?t even consider using these FREE money saving pieces of paper? I certainly don?t think so. My parents were never big coupon-ers so I can justify this by saying it was never in my daily norm to look for these little savings goodies, but I knew they existed. Really no excuse on my part. That realization inspired me to look up coupons for Whole Foods and Trader Joe?s right away and I am proud to say I am ready to save come Sunday when I have money again for food.

Second not so self reflection, but?situation?reflection came around lunch time. The email came in and immediately a wrench was thrown into the planning: I want to see someone on Saturday night.? There is no going out for drinks or going out to dinner so my only option was to change my meal plan. I let my guest know about this current challenge so they?re not surprised about the commonplace meal I conjure up, but that doesn?t ease the fact that I now need to make sure I leave enough food on my last of the challenge to feed two people.? Crossing my fingers I planned the rest of the week correctly.

What I ate:
Breakfast: Joe?s O?s, Milk, Coffee, Creamer (didn?t feel like the banana for some reason, probably a huge mistake)
Lunch: Pasta with eggplant and onion
Dinner: Toast and a fried egg

Day 4 Recap:

Day 4 is when I started to look at how this challenge will change my habits going forward. My first take away is I am definitely inspired to cook more and save money while doing it. This whole experience reminds me there is a lot more I can give in terms of food and charitable giving if i just buckle down myself and save money. (Cough:coupons:Cough cough)

I am also inspired by how much you can do with so little.? You do not need eight ingredients to make a good meal and if you buys less, you waste less. Yes, I have been eating a lot of the same thing because cooking (pasta) in bulk is much more economical, but the simplicity of what a few staples can turn into is rather enjoyable.? As a wise co-worker told me yesterday,? every experience makes you succeed more in life (if you let it). So I?m hoping to take this simplicity, less waste lesson and apply it to my life moving forward. To be fair, our office?s subscription to Real Simple may have had a hand in encouraging this behavior as well. I?m a sucker for their food photography.

What I ate:
Breakfast: Joe?s O?s, (my last) Banana, Milk, Coffee, Creamer
Lunch: Pasta with sauteed spinach and onion
Dinner: Red leaf salad with cucumber and red onion (lettuce and cucumber were left over from last week?s groceries), toast

Day 5 recap

I accepted free handout of pita chip, hummus and salsa samples on Day 5. I justified it by saying it doesn?t matter your income level you can take the free stuff.? I then sort of realized that ?luxury? foods (which is what I qualify pita chips and hummus as, go ask someone living in the middle of America, these are not normal buys) are probably only passed out in the financial district, i.e. where people can afford to buy them regularly, which is not a place where people living on food stamps probably frequent.? I of course thought about this while devouring my two free sample bags of chips.? Another reminder that I?m damn lucky to be where I am at my age.

What I ate:
Breakfast: Joe?s O?s, Milk, Coffee, Creamer
Lunch: Pasta with sauteed spinach and onion
Snack: (free) Pita chips
Dinner: Cup of Joe?s O?s and milk.? I wasn?t to hungry after my snack.

Total cheating thus far, i.e. food left over from the previous week

Half a box of macaroni and cheese: $0.99
Half an avocado: $0.90
Bushel of red lettuce: $1.20
Half a cucumber: $0.50
Two glasses of wine: $2.70
Total: $6.29?

In the past, only large corporations carried out costly online advertising. Local small business didn?t see a requirement for internet publicity, but the times have changed. But now, searches for local businesses or Local companies have replaced the white and the yellow pages. Fairly simply put, if your local company can?t be found online, you will not grow, and there is a good chance that you will not stay alive.

The purpose of this article is to present some of the alternatives existing to local firm and local enterprises for promotion or campaigning online on the internet. These can be categorized as internet ad postings on classified ad sites, video infomercials, making a website and making it visible to the public, setting up your Google Places account, and harnessing the power of social networks.

Craig?s List and Backpage Postings

There are many web sites where local merchants or Small organizations may post advertisements for free and many where local small businesses can pay to promote local establishment advertisements. The sites in receipt of the majority of classified ads postings are Craig?s List and Backpage. Both of these site will allow text and graphic advertisements. Given that nearly all local corporation or local business owners do not have an understanding of the html language essential to create visually appealing ads, the greater part of the advertisements are very boring text advertisements. The sad part of this procedure is that commonly, the words in the ads are very spider friendly, resulting in a page one SERP which should be great, information since when opened by the searcher they are presented with monotonous text, and they immediately depart the page. Instead of painstakingly reading these text ads the potentially paying customer says to heck with it and goes to the next Search Engine Results Page SERP result without ever discovering out what you were advertising; a tragedy! These ads hardly ever have much if any promoting doctrine enclosed within them such as clickable links to more information! This means that these ads are not likely to convert into sales. Those potential customers instantly leave without even finding out what was there. If classified ads are accurately placed, there is no uncertainty that they can and do create a important amount of traffic. It is imperative that the local firm or the local business owner learn how to write these ads so that they grab the reader?s attention, and which have a strong call to action to cause the reader to convert.

Videos are another Search Engine

Did you know that YouTube is a very influential publicity venue? Inhabitants love to watch video. Internet marketing by video can be a very fruitful means of driving traffic to your local partnership. I would like to remind you that while YouTube is the major and most admired site, it is not the only video site. Video posting sites are powerful, as you can create a video infomercial in minutes and right away have it spreading your special message 24/7. If you ever needed you could afford a high impact television commercial, you?ll be delighted to know that you can have your own infomercials for far less than a tv ad, and in all probability far less than you paid for a yellow page ad! It is possible to create a clickable good looking graphic ad for Craig?s list or Backpage which bring people off of those sites to a video running on your own website, complete with all of the available advertising and marketing ideology in place! Bringing readers to your site rather than YouTube or some other video site is preferable because the competing local businesses are now absent, and you have complete control of 100% of the content on the webpage. These handsome, eye catching, converting clickable ads can be obtained from professions for about 0, and they can be used over and over again on multiple sites. Don?t have a site to host the video, don?t worry these same professionals are able and happy to host the video and your other marketing material for about per month.

Get your Local Business webpage on Page one SERP

SERP optimized web pages are very influential, as they drive traffic to your website for free 24/7. This process involves the selection and securing of a profit-making URL or domain, developing a page or mini site and optimizing it to be found for precise search terms on the internet. If this is done properly, every time a person searches for your goods or service, your company appears on the first page of Google as an ?Organic Ad? and when people click on that search ad they land on your website. This can be done for as many or as few keyword terms as you choose. Some small business and local company proprietors prefer to start with a few keywords phrases, and increase the number of keyword campaigns as their sales increase.
